Singapore Airlines

Just plane marketing

Singapore Airlines said on Wednesday that it will relaunch the world’s longest commercial flight in October, a journey of almost 19 hours from the city-state to New York, but it will not be available to economy travellers. Well Singapore Airlines Limited is the flag carrier airline of Singapore with its hub at Singapore Changi Airport. The airline uses the Singapore Girl as its central figure in corporate branding

Flight duration

The daily, non-stop journey from Changi to Newark Airport will cover about 16,700 kilometres (10,300 miles) and take about 18 hours 45 minutes, the airline said in a statement.

The current record holder is Qatar Airways Flight 921 from Auckland to Doha, which takes 17 hours 40 minutes.

Aircraft used for the flight

The Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight will utilize the long-extend Airbus A350-900ULR, which will be designed to convey 161 travelers – 67 in business class and 94 in premium economy.

The carrier had flown a comparable course from 2004 until the point that 2013 yet crossed out it as it missed the mark concerning income desires. In any case, its most recent choice comes as transporters search for new wellsprings of income in a focused situation, while whole deal flights frequently make more money than those that require stops.

Meant for wealthy people only

There are also plans for a non-stop route from Singapore to Los Angeles using the same plane, the airline said.

Analysts said the decision to have no economy class was an attempt to promote the airline to wealthy customers.

Homework well done

Anyway Sobie noticed that SIA spearheaded the ultra whole deal course and had completed a great deal of research.

“In the mid 2000s when this initially began, SIA did all the testing they expected to and what they have thought of has set the business standard today,” he said.

Shukor Yusof, an investigator with aeronautics consultancy Endau Analytics, said it was impossible SIA could profit from the new administration.

“The worldwide premium market has disintegrated,” he told AFP. “Working expenses are higher on ultra whole deal flights as well, deleting any benefits an aircraft may make.”

Facing challenges For Singapore Airlines

The new route comes as the city-state’s flag carrier faces tough challenges.

Last year, it consolidated its low-cost units TigerAir and Scoot into a single entity in a streamlining exercise.

And this month it said it will absorb its struggling premium regional wing, SilkAir, into the broader group following a multi-million-dollar upgrade as part of reforms to stay competitive.
